German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful stated that defense cooperation between Ukraine and Germany “will grow and strengthen,” as Ukraine has extensive combat experience, and Germany has financial resources and capabilities in this area.
He spoke about this on the air of “Public. Studio”.
During the conversation, the German Foreign Minister was asked about the results of the agreement on financing Ukrainian long-range weapons, which Ukraine and Germany concluded a year ago. According to Wadeful, this project is currently developing successfully. In particular, it concerns the production of drones, which will be supplied even to the Gulf states.
“We are increasing this cooperation in a way that perhaps we did not expect a year ago. This is the future,” he said.
Wadeful also said that during a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on March 31, the parties agreed that Ukraine and Germany should focus on strengthening the potential of the defense industry and increasing its technological capabilities. The German foreign minister added that cooperation between the countries “will grow and strengthen.”
“You have extensive experience gained on the battlefield, and we have financial resources and capabilities in the defense sector. If we work like this, then we can hope for success here,” said the German Foreign Minister.
Also during this conversation, Vadful said that a “new chance” to unlock 90 billion euros in credit for Ukraine would likely appear after the elections in Hungary.
