Why does a land plot need a cadastral number?

Lawyer Artem Ripenko said in a commentary for Channel 24 that the cadastral number of a land plot is a unique sequence of numbers and characters that is assigned to a land plot during its state registration and is stored with it throughout its existence.

Cadastral numbers are assigned during the initial formation of land plots from land plots of state and municipal ownership in order to individualize a certain part of the earth's surface, as well as in cases where individuals have “old” documents for land plots, but information about such plots is not entered into the State Land Cadastre (SLC).

According to the lawyer, this operation, along with entering information about the land plot into the State Land Registry, is important for registering rights to land plots, paying land fees, alienating buildings and structures, etc.

How much will it cost to assign a cadastral number?

Artem Ripenko noted that formally, there is no fee for “entering” data into the State Land Cadastre and assigning a cadastral number (Article 41 of the Law “On the State Land Cadastre”). However, information is entered only on the basis of one or another land management documentation provided for by the Law “On Land Management”.

The specific type of documentation (land management project or technical documentation of a certain type) depends on the circumstances under which the cadastral number is assigned, and the price of such documentation, together with the necessary geodetic surveys, can range from several thousand hryvnias to tens or even hundreds of thousands,
– the lawyer emphasizes.

Please note! The final cost, according to him, will depend on the area of the plot, the region, other circumstances, as well as the selected land surveyor or land surveying organization. For citizens, in the most common cases, this cost will be 2-30 thousand hryvnias.

Double land registration: why does it occur and how to protect the plot?

  • In Ukraine, the number of cases of double registration of land plots is increasing, which creates the risk of loss of ownership rights.

  • The problem can be resolved administratively or through the courts, in particular, by recognizing ownership rights, canceling illegal registration, or reclaiming land from someone else's illegal possession.
