President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has signed a 10-year strategic cooperation agreement with Qatar and will soon conclude a similar one with the UAE. The agreements cover weapons production, exchange of experience in their use, and cooperation in the energy sector, but do not envisage the participation of Ukrainian military personnel in conflicts abroad.
The president stated this at a briefing with journalists, a correspondent for Suspilny reports.
President Zelenskyy, while talking to journalists, stated that the strategic cooperation agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the future agreement with the UAE do not mention the participation of the Ukrainian military in the defense of these countries.
“We are not talking about such details today. In addition to expertise, training, co-production, production and investment. All these areas will be involved. As for our military, today we are not discussing that they will participate in another war. We have enough of our own war. As for our expertise, how to defend ourselves, that is another question,” Zelenskyy said.
At the same time, the president reported that the agreement that Ukraine signed with Qatar provides for co-production, construction of factories in Qatar and Ukraine, as well as cooperation in the energy sector.
“That is, during these 10 years we will engage in co-production, build factories in both countries,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, the agreement with Qatar is similar to the previously signed agreement with Saudi Arabia. The President added that Ukraine will soon sign a similar agreement with the United Arab Emirates.
